Adventitious bursitis • Bodies are very cool things. Lots of people have heard of bursitis - which is inflammation of a bursa. Bursae are small fluid filled sacs (actually filled with the same stuff that's inside your joints) that cushion tendons and bones. But your body can also grow new bursae where it thinks it needs them. • One popular place to grow a new bursa is over the navicular bone on the inside of your foot - commonly seen in athletes wearing for example tight hockey skates. • Unfortunately the same pressure that makes your body think it needs that bursa can also lead to inflammation of that bursa - or bursitis. • We can help by providing you with a plan to get things calmed down, talk about activity and footwear modifications, giving you an exercise program to help stabilize the foot and ankle, and manual therapy and modalities to get things calmed down and feeling better ASAP. • Thanks to Russ Gothard, PT at Deerfoot for this information! • Visit @momentum_health to learn more! 💡 • PS.
