Kinetic Monte Carlo simulations of sintering

This is a kinetic monte carlo simulation of sintering. Different colors represent different orientations. The system evolves atomistically by surface diffusion and changes to atoms' orientations. The initial profile was generated by a random sphere packing algorithm, with material occupying 80% of the lattice sites. • The simulation was performed over 42 billion steps and 19 hours CPU time. • More information can be found here: • http://kgreresearch.wordpress.com/201... • Please visit my academic website for more general information about my work on Kinetic Monte Carlo: • http://www.math.lsa.umich.edu/~kgre/
