This lesson shows you how to apply Worker's Compensation (WCB) settings to your eNETEmployer payroll. Requirements differ across the thirteen provinces and territories, and not every business will require WCB coverage. Therefore if you are unsure of the settings required for your business, we suggest that you refer to legislation that applies to your area. • For detailed On-line Help about this feature, visit: • • http://enetemployer.com/help/wcbs.html • Note: WCB settings must always be defined first, before any employees are added to the payroll. • From the Payroll tab, choose the Current Payroll - WCB menu command. This opens the WCB screen that allows us to enter our company's provincial/territorial Workers' Compensation Board (WCB) rates and settings. • Choose a province from the drop down list beside the New button, and then select the New button. This action inserts a new WCB row into the table. When a new row is added, it appears in Edit Mode so that we can begin editing the various cells. • Begin by moving to the Yearly Max Assessable field and entering the desired rate for our region. If your business requires more than one rate classification, the program supports that also. • The Yearly Maximum Assessable amount refers to the maximum annual earnings on which premiums are calculated for each of our workers, and on which benefits are calculated for those who are injured at work. • If you need to view the up-to-date WCB rates for all Canadian regions, please visit our website at www.canpay.com. • Next, move to the Registration Number cell and enter your company's WCB Registration Number (sometimes referred to as the Account Number, depending on your region). If you have had contact with the WCB in the past, your account number will be available on any previous correspondence you received. In some provinces, previous WCB correspondence may also refer to this item as a Firm Number. • Next, click on the Remit Frequency's drop down list and specify the frequency by which the WCB payments will be paid. The available options are; Remit Monthly, Remit Quarterly, and Remit Annually. • And lastly, move to the Rate per Hundred cell and specify the rate at which the current WCB item will be charged. In our demo, Plant employees are charged at 1.51 per $100 dollars of assessable payroll. Again, each province and territory establishes their own maximum assessable amount for employees. • And that completes the WCB settings for our Plant workers. Now we can enter one more rate for our second classification of workers - Assembly. • Insert another WCB item via the New button, then define the Description and Rate for the new WCB item. • We now have two different rate classifications that can be applied as needed to new employees as they are being added to the payroll. • Now we will add an employee to our payroll using the Employee Template method. To do so, we must first ensure that the templates have our new WCB items included. To do so, choose the Current Payroll - Templates menu command and then move to the WCB drop down list in each Template row and choose the Manitoba option for each. • Now that our WCB settings are included in our employee template, let's use the template to add a new employee to the payroll. Choose the Employee - Setup Employee command and then move to the top left of the screen and click on the drop down list that appears just to the right of the New button. The list displays all existing employee templates. • Select the desired Template option, and then choose the New button. This action inserts a new employee row into the table and its cells appear ready for editing. Complete the employee settings and when you save the row, the WCB settings will be applied. Complete the employee settings by proceeding methodically through the options under Employee menu. • If you wish to add an employee and their WCB settings manually, you would perform the same basic actions that you saw earlier in the Setup Employee screen, except instead of choosing a template when you add the new employee, you would leave the Template drop down list blank. You would then proceed methodically through the options under Employee menu and fill in the employee's details as needed, including the WCB settings.
