4 Things That Kill the Fire of God • You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to Myself. Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine. Exodus 19v4-5 • Remember what God delivered you from. • Remember what God delivered you through. • Remember what God delivered you to. • Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. James 4:8 • Feet - draw. • Hands - clean. • Hearts - pure. • Mind - focused. • Four Things That Kill The Fire of God! • 1. Offense. • From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more. John 6:66 • The word for offense used here is “skandalon”. Skandalon was the trigger of a trap on which bait is placed. When an animal touches the trigger to eat the bait, the trap springs shut, and the animal is caught. Skandalon indicates the enticement to conduct which will ruin the person in question. • 2. Disappointment. • And they said to one another, 'Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?' Luke 24v32 • When God doesn’t meet your expectations, He might be trying to exceed them. • 3. Busyness. • 'And Jesus answered and said to her, 'Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.' Luke 10v41-42 • We are not called to be busy but to be fruitful. • Busy is the result of work without worship. Fruitful is work out of worship • Busy is what we do without God. Fruit is what God does with us • Intimacy brings fruit • Fruit is what branch can’t manufacture without the vine • Five Levels of Fruitfulness: • 1. No fruit • 2. Fruit. • 3. More fruit. • 4. Much fruit. • 5. Fruit that remains. • 4. Materialism. • Jesus said to him, 'If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.' • But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.
