I’ve always wanted to make a medieval cuir bouilli case ever since seeing one at the Musée de Cluny (Musée national du Moyen Âge) in Paris years ago. I found a tutorial by Barry Hicks that I mostly followed (linked below), grabbed some supplies lying around, and just went for it. For the leather tooling designs, I’ve always loved the fighting rabbits found throughout the marginalia of medieval manuscripts, so I incorporated a few of my favorites.
