A playthrough of Interplay's 1994 fighting game for the Super Nintendo, ClayFighter Tournament Edition. • Played through as Bad Mr. Frosty on the hard difficulty level. • Releasing just six months after the original ClayFighter appeared on the SNES, it's clear that Interplay had been taking notes on industry trends. Like Capcom had done with Street Fighter II Turbo and Midway with NBA Jam Tournament Edition, the company created ClayFighter Tournament Edition as more of an iterative improvement than a full-fledged sequel to the original game. It was also released as a Blockbuster exclusive rental title, like what Capcom would go on to do with Final Fight Guy. • I've linked my videos to the other SNES ClayFighter games below, if you're interested in comparing them. • ClayFighter is a one-on-one fighting game that plays a lot like Street Fighter II, but with one major defining difference: the graphics were all created using digitized images of clay models instead of traditional hand-drawn images. More than just a gimmick, the graphics give the entire game an identity distinct from the droves of SF2 imitators that appeared on the system. • The Tournament Edition improves even further on the already excellent look of the original game: shipping on a cart that was half again the size of the first game (24meg instead of 16meg), more backgrounds were added, the animation was improved, and there are even more voice samples than before. It even retains the title theme with full vocals! • The gameplay has also been improved. The game has been rebalanced, and the match-ups now feel more even regardless of who you're playing as. Some moves have been added while others were removed, many moves have been altered for damage and timing, and a super KO hit system has been introduced. The difference is fairly subtle, but the changes undoubtedly make for a more polished, better refined game. As you'd expect from the title, the game also now features a tournament mode, and (again in the vein of SF2), more turbo settings have added. • ClayFighter has never been the deepest fighting game around, but I've always found it to be enormously entertaining. From the disturbing Elivis impersonator's Hey, watch the hair, man! to the way viking Helga's eyes bug out when she gets smacked, there are so many fun, memorable touches here that'll make you think of the game long after you stop playing it. It's got a ton of charm, and it plays well to boot. • Clay Fighter: •    • ClayFighter (SNES) Playthrough - Nint...   • ClayFighter 2: Judgement Clay •    • ClayFighter 2: Judgment Clay (SNES) P...   • ____________ • No cheats were used during the recording of this video. • • NintendoComplete (http://www.nintendocomplete.com/) punches you in the face with in-depth reviews, screenshot archives, and music from classic 8-bit NES games!
