THERE IS NO DENIAL: CAPITALISM IS IN CRISIS. • Our prevailing economic model, once celebrated as a beacon of liberal enlightenment, now stands accused of complicity in a myriad of societal challenges, resulting in unprecedented ecological and social damage. Deep anxiety permeates society, fuelled by profound concerns about the state of the world and a growing disillusionment with the dominant narrative of progress. • Yet, most people still operate within the implicit acceptance of growth-based consumer capitalism and current policy proposals continue to fall short. Nevertheless, alternatives exist. Across the globe, courageous individuals and communities contribute to a global shift towards better business, exploring innovative ideas and practices. • BUSINESS FOR HUMANITY • Despite the pioneering efforts of many individuals and groups, heterodox perspectives continue to be overlooked by many business schools and leadership development programs. Furthermore, popular debate often remains superficial. Therefore, we are launching Business for Humanity - a series of interactive monthly webcasts dedicated to promoting viable enhancements and alternatives to our economic system. • Our live sessions aim to nurture comparative and integrative discussion on alternative economic approaches, in order to foster deeper understanding and inspire tangible actions. Together with our engaged audience, we'll systematically explore the underlying premises, shed light on practical implications, and unveil the strengths and weaknesses of innovative paradigms. Frederic Jameson once famously remarked: It's easier to imagine the end of the world than to imagine the end of capitalism. Our intention is to prove him wrong! • Whether you're a researcher or practitioner, these sessions promise valuable insights and inspiration for a collective new narrative. Join us throughout the series as we weave together the fundamentals for good economy, contributing to a thriving planet for all! • LAUNCH EDITION WITH KEES KLOMP • In our inaugural webcast of Business for Humanity we commence our collective journey to unravel the complexities of capitalism and embark on the quest for a better future of work. Inspired by the visionary research of Kees Klomp and the management bestseller Thrive - Fundamentals for a New Economy he co-wrote with Shinta Oosterwaal, we start to explore a number of bold alternatives to traditional and capitalistic paradigms. Prepare to be inspired by a whirlwind of ideas, from Doughnut Economics to Wellbeing Economics, Buddhist Economics, Ecological Economics, Community and Commons-based approaches, and including Degrowth and Feminist Economics.
