Check with your local E-ZPass office or check online for plan descriptions. • Tip • The basic plan is good for all roads and bridges, while the discount plans are only for certain roads and bridges and may be tag or account specific. • Step 3: Choose a payment method • Choose how you're going to pay for the toll tag. You can set up a credit card account that will charge your card, or you can send in a check or money order each time your pass gets low on funds. • Step 4: Choose a pre-payment amount • Choose an amount to pre-pay to your account and indicate the information on your application. • Step 5: Complete the application • Enter your personal information and your car's information, and send or deliver your application. • Step 6: Set up a pin number • Call or log in to access your account and set up a pin number for use in the future. Write it down somewhere it can be easily found. • Step 7: Affix the E-Z Pass to your car • Affix the E-ZPass to your car's windshield just below the rear view mirror. If you had to get an exterior pass because of your car's make, mount it to the top of your front license plate. • Step 8: Drive through tolls • Drive through the toll lanes on E-ZPass toll roads across the Eastern states with ease and never have to worry about scrounging for quarters on the floorboard again. • Did You Know? • The first toll road in the United States, the National Road, was built in 1818, but did not become a toll road until the 1830s when it was handed over to the states by the federal government.
