As Spring arrives here on the Delmarva Peninsula; I have compiled a series of videos on the trains that were filmed on Delmarva Central’s Indian River and Delmarva Secondaries. Various locations are seen in this video; these are seen in plenty of previous videos. • May is also the start of Tourist Season; as Coastal Beaches like Lewes, Rehoboth, or even Ocean City; are heating up for out-of-state tourists. Summer is also where some railfans visit to see the Delmarva Central Railroad, plus where school is out for the summer. • The following train and times are arranged in the video; and time codes are below: • 5/3 : 0:10 • DCR-01/NS 62W- Zoar, DE – • The Norfolk Southern Railway has a few Dash 9-44CW locomotives under the Operation Life Saver scheme, the colors are the same as the horsehead Dash 9’s; but with a few bells-and-whistles added to it such as; the OLI life saver logo on both sides of the train. The thick circle has red words on the side about OLI’s 25th anniversary. • This train seen passing Zoar Rd; it may seem the engineer was focused on the truck behind me; this road has very sharp curve about 300ft pass the South end of the crossing; and with house and a large metal shed owned by Baxter Farms; this makes it very nerve wracking as you have so short of a distance to stop. This may be why some crashes has happened here and/or very close calls. There are no warning signs before the crossing to warn to slow down. • DelDot; this is you; this is unsafe, there should be the common “RR X-ing” ahead sign BUT should add flashing lights when a train is approaching. • 5/4 : 3:00 • DCR-01/NS 62W - Georgetown, DE - • A Model train convention is held on every Saturday of the first month by Boy Scout of America (BSA) Troop #95. They have a gas powered train ride; mimicking a steam locomotive, but in mini-ride able scale. • As 62W nears, the trailing Dash 9 is very smoky, as black smoke comes out of the exhaust stack. Some of the BSA Scouts witness the power and loudness of a freight train. • You can go to http://www.georgetowntrainstation.org/ to view events; you can go here to www.georgetowntrainstation.org/messageCenter/detail?id=35885 to view events. Every Saturday from 11AM to 1PM for free. • 3/4 - 5:44 • Extra HA-3 - Sussex Central - • About 7 hours later after the 62W, HA-3 runs in the wee-evening hours as the sun starts setting. • Notice the car near the end that clearly says Conrail . • Thanks for watching!
