#CumenePhenolProcess, #HockProcess, #phenol, #acetone, #namereaction, • • In this video lecture, I have explained the preparation of phenol from benzene through Cumene Phenol Process or Hock Process. In short, Cumene or isopropyl benzene is prepared from benzene and triplet oxygen. Subsequently, the oxidation was was carried out using oxygen which results in hydroperoxide formation. The final product was obtained through the Cumene Phenol rearrangement which proceeds through migration of aryl group from carbon to the oxygen atom. In the last part of this video, I have discussed the preparation of 1,4-benzoquinol or p-benzoquinol and 2-naphthol using a similar concept.
