Found only in the Galápagos, marine iguanas are docile herbivores with wide-set eyes, spiky dorsal scales, and salt-encrusted heads. These unusual creatures ingest large quantities of saltwater along with the algae they eat. To prevent dehydration, special glands near their nose filter the saltwater out of their blood, then they 'sneeze' to expel the excess salt. This frequent action often leaves their heads and snouts encrusted with white salty crystals. • Subscribe to our channel: http://bit.ly/LEX_YouTube • Join the conversation: • Facebook: http://bit.ly/LEX_FB • Instagram: http://bit.ly/LEX_Instagram • Blog: https://bit.ly/StoriesYouTube
