A playthrough of GameTek's 1994 game show adaptation for the Super NES, Jeopardy! Deluxe Edition. • The deluxe version of Jeopardy!, released about 18 months after the original 1992 SNES Jeopardy! game, doesn't change much besides a refreshed question bank promising 3,500 brand new stumpers. The graphics, sound, and gameplay are all identical to the first, and for the most part this sameness is fine - the core game is good, and the successful Rare-produced NES games followed the same pattern. However, it still suffers from an anally-retentive text parser (I hope you can spell, and no abbreviations allowed!) and the difficulty level of the questions is still fairly steep compared to most Jeopardy! video games. Still, this cart still makes for a fun time with a few of your more bookish friends. • Alex Trebek is also still rocking his moustache here, which is always plus. • Overall, I can't help but to prefer the superb Sega CD adaptation over this: there's just something too magical to resist about those blue-screen video avatars! The SNES is a good cart, but the CD version outclasses it entirely. • You can find my video of the original SNES Jeopardy! game here: • Jeopardy!
