Moment South Korean politician stabbed in neck

South Korea’s opposition leader was stabbed in the neck by a man who posed as an autograph hunter during a visit to the southern city of Busan. • Lee Jae-myung, who narrowly lost the 2022 presidential election as head of the Democratic Party, was attacked in front of a crowd of journalists on Tuesday. • Lee, 59, was airlifted to Pusan National University Hospital for treatment to a suspected knife wound to the jugular vein. Hospital officials later confirmed that the injury was not life-threatening and that Lee was conscious. • Video footage showed that the suspect was wearing a paper hat bearing the words “I’m Lee Jae-myung” when he approached the party leader for an autograph as Lee toured the site of a proposed airport.
