Truck Camping Oatman Arizona via Route 66

This week we hit the road toward Kingman Arizona, driving on a portion of historic route 66 and made our way to Oatman AZ for the night! This small mountain town mountain began as a small mining camp in 1915 but is now a popular destination for explorers, bikers, and events/festivals in in Mohave County! Popular for their friendly donkey companions that roam the street! They are so friendly they are used to being petted, fed and watered by humans. However, be aware because they don’t like dogs! Locals told us to keep an eye out because Donkeys can get aggressive with a dog thinking it’s a Coyote. • There are a few bars/restaurants and shops in town as well as a free mining museum/exhibit. There is also the old Oatman Jail that you can pay $1 to enter the museum, which is home to a 30 year old turtle that (surprisingly) walks really fast lol • After exploring town, hanging with Donkeys and having a beer and burger. We head south toward Fort Mohave to find camp in the Oatman Boondock BLM area. The road in was a bit rough but nothing that a SUV couldn’t do (don’t recommend RVs doing that road but there were some RVs camping closer toward the beginning of the road. BUT when we got to camp the winds were ripping at over 20+ MPH. We checked the area and the surrounding towns were all getting hit with high winds as well.
