Belgium's hidden gem, Dinant, has it all. A thousand-year-old fortress, jaw-dropping waterfront and giant saxophones - about 60 miles from Brussels. • Mary takes us on a visit to Dinant, a town packed with history, charm and and photography hotspots. About a hundred giant saxophones pays homage to the town's most famous citizen, Adolphe Sax, the inventor of the saxophone. Charles de Gaulle served here in World War I during the Battle of Dinant before he would eventually rise to the rank of General during World War II and then as President of France. A thousand-year-old fortress holds a lot of history as well as an incomparable panoramic view of the town and the Meuse River. And finally the Collegiate Church of Our Lady (Notre Dame) is a striking fixture on the banks of the river, along with a row of colorful Belgian houses. So much to see but the town is so compact that it's a tourist's dream! • 📣📣📣 Check out the videos from this newly launched travel vlog and see how to get the most out of your travels by immersing yourself in the culture! • • Mary Goes Round the World • ➡️➡️➡️ Follow me • Instagram: • / marygoesroundtheworld • Facebook: • https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?... • Website: • www.marygoesroundtheworld.com • 🎬🎬🎬 Hit that subscribe button here on YouTube • 00:03 Introduction • 00:36 Giant Saxophones • 01:41 Charles de Gaulle • 02:16 Tram to Fortress • 02:39 Citadel • 03:27 Footsteps to Adolphe Sax home • 03:42 Collegiate Church of Our Lady • 04:27 Closing • 04:40 Tip of the Week • By Unknown author - Charles de Gaulle soldat, 1914-1918, Amiens, Martelle, 1999, ISBN 2-87890-073-1., Public Domain, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index... • By Unknown author - Lectures pour tous, 1er mars 1915 p.657, Public Domain, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index... • By Agence Rol - This file comes from Gallica Digital Library and is available under the digital ID btv1b6927111q, Public Domain, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index... • By Alexandre Daoust (1886-1947) - [http://www.dinant.be/uploads/pages/1/...[1280x768].jpg](http://www.dinant.be/uploads/pages/1/..., Public Domain, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index... • By Unknown author - http://www.matelecommeen14.be/spip.ph..., Public Domain, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index... • By Unknown author - http://www.matelecommeen14.be/spip.ph..., Public Domain, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index... • Australian Army Museum of Western Australia • Music courtesy: Uplifting Acoustic Tune with a Bright, Positive Vibe by Nancy_Sinclair -- https://freesound.org/s/751877/ -- License: Attribution 4.0.
