Today, I'm going to show you how to make a beat in the style of Metro Boomin's production on the track We Don't Trust You from his latest album. Using only the Flex VST in FL Studio, I'll demonstrate how to cook up some heat with stock plugins. Let's dive in! • I'll start by matching the BPM and key to the original song for an authentic feel. We'll set the BPM to 112 and the key to F# minor. I'll give you a quick preview of the beat to avoid copyright flags. • First, we'll use the String of Centrals Violin Staccato preset in Flex. I'll show you the MIDI chords and how to create the foundational sound. I'll explain chord structures, root notes, octaves, and how to add bounce to the melody. • Next, I'll introduce the bass preset in Flex, adjusting octaves, and tweaking velocity for a dynamic sound. We'll use additional strings for accents to enrich the melody and create variation. For the breakdown, we'll craft a synth lead using the Physic Anomaly preset and incorporate it for added texture. • We'll then create a basic kick pattern, snare, and high hats to match Metro Boomin's style. Adding simplicity to high hats and crash sounds will maintain a clean, professional sound. I'll introduce a laser perk sound for extra flair and variation. • For the 808 pattern with sub bass, I'll adjust notes and manipulate velocity to enhance the beat's impact. Adding effects like reverb, flanger, and thermal will polish the sound. • Finally, I'll consolidate and stretch samples, add unique elements, and share final arrangement tips.
