Cars.com West Coast Bureau Chief Conner Golden did not expect to have a three-row, roughly 6,000-pound all-electric minivan as one of his favorite vehicles of the year, but the all-new 2025 Volkswagen ID. Buzz is so, so much more than it seems. Though it’s tempting to assume this is simply a minivan wrapper over the existing ID.4 crossover platform, the ID. Buzz is one of the most cleverly packaged and interesting EVs of 2025. • It deserves your attention for its styling alone, with nu-retro looks that successfully modernize the classic Type 2 we all know and love. Buzz is capable of just 234 miles of EPA-rated range, as you’re going to want to take drive after drive. • The passenger is king here, but the driver isn’t forgotten. Golden found the ID. Buzz to drive far, far better than is ever needed, with excellent suspension damping, composed ride and (comparably) impressive handling. It’s not the quickest, but 0-60 mph in around 6.5 seconds is more than enough to merge safely and haul a full house. But with a starting price of around $62,000, who is this for?
