Hydrea is a chemotherapy medicine most commonly used to treat a cancer of the blood cells called chronic myeloid leukaemia, but is also used to treat cervical cancer and some other blood disorders. • Hydrea capsules contain the active ingredient hydroxycarbamide. • The exact way in which hydroxycarbamide works is unclear, but it appears to interfere with the synthesis of DNA inside cells.
