Hello, I wanted to make this video to help fellow students who are struggling to work with this software as I did when I was trying to use it! • In this video series, I am trying to compute the icing shape and ice mass accreted in an airfoil. For that I use www.airfoiltools.com to get the coordinates of an airfoil used in Wind turbines, ANSYS ICEM to create the mesh around the airfoil, ANSYS Fluent to perform a CFD simulation on the airfoil and ANSYS Fensap-Ice to compute the ice accreted. • P.S: Sorry for the low overall quality, disorganization, and cringy moments, I will try to do a better version later...! • Values used: • Airfoil chord: 1m • Fairfield boundary distance: 10 chords (front, top, and bottom); 30 chords (back) • Airfoil width: 0,05m • First cell size (airfoil surface): 2e-6 m • First cell size (blunt trailing edge): 2e-5 m • Dynamic Viscosity: 1.7894e-5 (kg/m s) • Reynolds Number: 5,05e6 • Y+ Value: ~0,39 • 00:00 How to import an airfoil into ICEM • 06:05 Creating the geometry in ICEM • 11:19 Creating the blocks for the mesh • 19:40 Meshing parameters along edges • 49:48 Extruding mesh into 3D configuration • 52:40 Exporting mesh for use in Fluent • 55:39 Adding FENSAP-ICE extension to workbench • 56:50 Mistake made! Please change to part 2 of video! • Airfoiltools webpage used: http://airfoiltools.com/airfoil/detai... • Tool to calculate Y+ Value: https://www.pointwise.com/yplus/index...
