The music John Williams wrote for Harry Potter is spectacular. But in the 3rd film, it has flaws. • Despite Williams scoring 1-3, the musical continuity disappears in the 3rd film, and we lose many great themes. I have tried to bring some of them back. • This scene was originally silent. I feel it is too complex and climactic of a scene to be silent. That being said, I also feel this is my weakest addition to my PoA rescores. • Throughout the piece, I re-insert John Williams's intended piece for this scene (only found in the recording sessions). It mostly just brings back the Invisibility Cloak Theme from the previous movies, with a few Sirius Black notes. • Our next tune is at the mention of Voldemort, where I tease one of Voldemort's leitmotifs. I felt this was important to have, primarily because this is the only scene that carries any 'Voldemort' weight in the entire movie, and we need that continuity throughout. • It then switches to Sirius Black's 'dangerous' theme as we hear Fudge talk about Black destroying Pettigrew and eventually building up to the shocking discovery of Harry's godfather. Having the constant repetition of the Sirius Black 'dangerous' theme makes his eventual reveal (with Williams's spectacularly climactic score) all the more thrilling once we meet him at the Shrieking Shack. • Music Used: • The Three Broomsticks (HP3) - John Williams (recording sessions | unreleased track) • The Boy Who Lived (HP1) - John Williams • The Newspaper (HP3) - John Williams (recording sessions) • Editor's Note: This is my second and final attempt at rescoring this scene. The original (and inferior in my opinion) can be found here: • Harry Potter Prisoner of Azkaban - Re...
