Repotting Neofinetia falcata orchid Japanese Kokedama

Here is my first attempt at repotting a Neofinetia falcata orchid in the famous Japanese style, also known as Kokedama. This is a traditional design, since neofinetia orchids are very popular in Japan for their wonderful foliage and small stature. • The pot that is usually used has a rounded shape, is short and usually is beautifully crafted by hand. In most cases it will depict birds, flowers or other traditional patterns. Now these pots are a bit expensive and hard to come by, but you can also use normal pots, plastic, clay, or net pots. • The orchid is potted on a ball of sphagnum moss and will sit well above the rim of the pot. Also the orchid should not be buried in the media, but just lay on top of the moss with its roots spread across evenly. • Long fiber sphagnum moss is ideal for this design, as it can be easily wrapped around the orchid's roots, but if you don't have this type of moss, you can do with normal moss as well.
