Pack your bags for an exciting journey across the United States in WEEBLES Coast to Coast, a fun, educational traveling exhibit developed by the Betty Brinn Children's Museum in collaboration with Hasbro. Touched with humor, and loaded with more than 70 hands-on activities, the exhibit invites children to explore the geography, history and uniqueness of the 50 United States -- and Washington, D.C., too! Related books and art activities, songs, audio and video installations, and a computer kiosk filled with state symbols, facts, trivia and postcards from around the nation will engage and entertain visitors of all ages. • US Geography and Geology: • The Welcome Gallery highlights the six geographic regions featured in the exhibit and each state activity, and a collection of the United States Mint's 50 State Quarters. Murals featuring some of the nation's most beautiful coastal, mountain and prairie landscapes serve as the backdrop for state activities where children can learn about some of the most fascinating natural wonders in the country -- and the world -- as they pretend to hike to Old Faithful, ride a mule into the Grand Canyon, and search for WEEBLES hidden in the amazing formations at Arches National Park. • STEM Education: • Opportunities for children to explore science, technology, engineering and math are offered throughout the exhibit. Children can build a replica of the St. Louis Gateway Arch or use the Golden Gate Bridge as inspiration for their own design. In North Carolina, children can create simple experiments and explore aerodynamics as they learn about the Wright Brothers and their famous first flight. Puzzles and games throughout the exhibit provide wonderful opportunities to help build math and problem-solving skills. • Arts and Culture: • The exhibit offers a wide variety of visual, language and performing arts activities. Children can experiment with movement and music as they perform in a Tennessee washboard band, mix jazz in Louisiana, sample Motown music in Michigan, or try the hula in Hawaii. A pop art activity in Illinois is great fun for all ages and designing a quilt pattern in Arkansas showcases American folk art. • Physical Activity, American Pastimes and Role Play: • Kids can get active with a variety of physical challenges, including the opportunity to climb Mount Rainier, cross-country ski in Wisconsin, pedal a steamboat down the Mississippi, kayak in Idaho and more! Fun props, costumes and creative hands-on activities provide endless role-play opportunities that celebrate U.S. pastimes, sports and popular events. Children can join a pit crew at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Indiana, mush a sled dog team in Alaska, try for a field goal at the National Football Hall of Fame in Ohio, and count down on New Year's Eve in New York's Times Square. • Rental Information • Target audience: Standards-based educational activities are designed for children ages 2-12. • Size: The exhibit requires approximately 2,800 sq. ft. of space.
