Recruiting Units from Higher Ages in Forge of Empires • This faked cover page of a newspaper might be carried too far, but units from future ages are used often to attack neighbors. There is no possibility to stop them. • The example demonstrates how my city on the beta server gets attacked by a neighbor who already owns Hover Tanks from the Future Era, although we are both in the Contemporary Era. And this is not the maximum players can achieve. I already saw players of the Contemporary Era using units from the Oceanic Future. And they also do a great job defending the city. • A very common question below my videos is: How is this done? How can I recruit units from future ages? • The general answer is simple: Continue in the story quest line. Some of these quests provide units from the higher ages as a reward. Along with these quests you will have to either fight or negotiate for the provinces of the next ages. • But there are some hurdles and sometimes they cannot be overcome as the story quest can neither be skipped nor interrupted. Let me demonstrate this using my Iron Age battle city. The final story quest of the Iron Age asks to conquer the last province of the Iron Age. Ragu Silvertongue explains: „There is but one thing left to do - go and finally get the province of Maktaba. Make Hasdrubaal your subject - once and for all!“ Afterwards you automatically receive the first quest of the Early Middle Ages. It is already named: „Dawn of a Dark Age“. The next quests require to scout or infiltrate provinces of the Early Middle Ages, to pay some coins or supplies, and to conquer sectors of the province Pfefferberg. More quests are very general, e g collecting supplies, or constructing a cultural building. It is not necessary to construct one of the Early Middle Ages. The Triumphal Arc of the Iron age would fit. Therefore it is not difficult for an Iron Age player to solve the next quests. Simply scout, collect, pay and move forward in the questline. The Middle Ages quest line is about a witch and when you captured her you will be very disappointed: You only got resources and no military units as a reward. This is different in higher ages. The first story quest providing military units is 'Buy it free' in the Late Middle Ages. Players in the Iron Age would love to get these 2 musketeers of the Colonial Age. This quest cannot be reached by an Iron Age player. Most already fail to complete the High Middle Ages quest 'Poison in the Well'. It wants you to research a technology which enables a cultural building and at that point the last cultural building of the Iron Age is already researched. So you cannot continue without advancing in the ages. It works for higher ages very well, but fails in the Iron Age. But there are players using heavy units in the Early Middle Ages. These are a reward of a bonus quest line. • The first quest of this bonus quest line is named 'A Hooded Visitor'. Following this quest line you eventually reach the quest 'Murderers!'. It's reward is a couple of Armored Infantry. • In higher ages the effect is more impressive. A great example is the Contemporary Era as many players remain much longer there. Already soon after completing the story quest line of the Contempotaty Era the quest „Who Pulls the Strings?“ rewards you with 2 Stealth Tanks of the Tomorrow Era. Soon after the quest „The Drug Lord“ drops 2 Combat Drones. Later the quest „The Villain“ asks you to research a new technology. If you don't have open technologies this task will stop you. Those who plan to pass this point, e g for advancing into the quest line of the Oceanic Future, should leave open as many technologies as possible. Only research if a quest requires you to do that. This is the way players succeed to have military units of the Oceanic Future while still being in the Contemporary Era. • The website FANDOM Wiki provides the story quests which will make your planning much easier. Just type in FANDOM Wiki Forge of Empires and the name of the quest into an internet search engine and you will get to the desired quest description. Now use previous/next to move through the quest line. This is how you can plan your next steps much better. • https://forgeofempires.fandom.com
