This is a flood light that can zoom. This is a budget light that will perform its best with a 18650 cell verses the 3 AA cells. Nice build quality, this type of light has a very wide even beam that can throw a flood beam to about 40 feet of usable light. It has very good throw when zoomed in but nothing up close or near you.
