In this video, I'm going to review my 2 Engel fridge-freezers and outline my reasons for purchasing them. • 15 months ago I upgraded from a 65L dual zone fridge/freezer to 2 Engels....the 38L Eclipse as a fridge and the 40L as a freezer. • I'm not sponsored by Engel, so the comments expressed in this video are mine alone. I purchased these units from Engeland Balcatta's display at the 2019 Perth 4WD camping show. • These Engels operate on 12V DC or 240V AC. • The MD40F is a polypropylene cased Engel with an internal capacity of 38L and is commonly referred to as the Eclipse 38. • It has a net weight of 22kg, a power consumption of 2.7Amps and can hold 50 x 375ml cans. • The MT-V45F is the new Digital V series, metal cased unit and supersedes the platinum series and has an internal capacity of 40L, a power consumption of 2.5Amps and can hold 60 x 375ml cans. • It also has a digital temperature indication. • Both of these Engels have the same internal cooling components and also uses the new Sawafuji Swing Motor. • If you have any questions about this video, please put them in the comments section below. • If you liked the video, please give it a Thumbs Up. Japanese technology at its best, the Sawafuji Swing Motor has only one moving part. Unlike many rotary type compressors, the Motor does not need to perform a full stroke on start up, meaning that it does not have a high start up current draw. The Motor operates at 30 degree angles and on rough corrugated tracks without any loss of efficiency, making it the most effective choice of motor for Engel. • The piston is connected to an electro dynamic device which is powered by the use of magnetic fields. With this technology there is no need for bearings, cranks or con-rods, and less moving parts means less chance of failure. With only one moving part, friction loss is very low, resulting in a highly efficient compressor. • Engel is proud to use the unique Sawafuji Swing Motor. With only one moving part, it is simply the most efficient Motor available on the market. The Motor is self lubricating, works at 100% efficiency (even at an angle of 30 degrees), and will keep running as low as 10 volts. • The Sawafuji Swing Motor has no high start-up current draw. This is because when it starts up, it can simply move down a fraction before returning. The distance travelled by the piston is then slowly increased at each stroke until a full stroke is reached. The Motor does not, therefore, need to perform a full stroke on start up. This sets it apart from many rotary type compressors which must perform a complete cycle and require a much greater current to start. • Information supplied by https://www.engelaustralia.com.au/saw... • Thumbnail images from https://www.engeland.com.au
