It is used in heart failure arrhythmia etc. Its mechanism of action is inhibition of NaK ATPase pump. Its binds with potassium binding site of the pump. Because of same binding site for digoxin and potassium, they compete with each other for binding. So binding of digoxin and magnitude of its effect depends on potassium level too. When potassium level is high, digoxin effect is reduced. When potassium level is low, digoxin effect is increased. • Loop diuretics and thiazides increase potassium excretion in urine. So its level in blood is decreased.
