Footage Summary • Trapdoors of various ‘trapdoor spiders’ (Mygalomorphae of several families) ) are shown including that of the unusual Twiglining spider from WA Anidiops villosus, and also the Sydney Trapdoor Spider Dyarcyops fuscipes that has no door on its burrow. A spider waits in ambush just below the trapdoor. Various insects pass by and the spider pounces – but misses – then succeeds in catching a large cockroach. Some wolf spiders (Lycosidae) make similar lids to their burrows; we see the open lid on the burrow of an outback wolf spider, and the spider coming up in haste to close it - several times. . . • For More Videos and HD Wildlife Stock Footage: • http://www.absolutelywildvisuals.com
