Striper fishing Lake Texoma using all artificial with John Blasingame. On today’s wide open travel adventure we traveled to Lake Texoma between the Texas and Oklahoma border to fish with John of Adventure Texoma Outdoors. I had never met John before but he has a big personality. It didn’t take long to figure that out. We were searching for serious rod bending action. The fish didn’t disappoint us either. The time of year we went, the schools of strippers were pushing up balls of bait fish. In 70+ feet of water, bait fish were corralled near the surface. When I first saw what was happening, I couldn't believe my eyes. A hundred yards away from the boat I'd see water boiling, tails, splashing, and the sides of the fish turning hard to feed. • My adrenaline was pumping. We had basically surface lures and jigs rigged up on rods laid out all over the boat. We could jump up on the bow and start throwing in the boiling water. And John’s energy level and excitement was over the top. And he would start giving commands, orders and suggestions on lure retrieve speed. In the case of the jigs, that he calls slabs, the rod movement and cranking effort of the reel to draw in the bite. He was on his game. He had done this for many years and had a really cool set up for cleaning fish. • It was like a little outdoor cantina. The rod bending was outstanding. Striped bass, also known as, Atlantic striped bass or line siders or rockfish are excellent eating. They’re found primarily along the Atlantic coast of North America. We found them on inland recreational fisheries. Lake Texoma is known around the world as one of the best striper fishing lakes anywhere. These fish can live up to 30 years unless they meet up with Super Dave. They are excellent table fare and can live in both freshwater and saltwater environments. They have 7 or 8 uninterrupted stripes on the side of their body. On top of that, they are powerful fighters.
