For me, the world of whisky is always a divided place. Although we all unite under the single banner of liking distilled spirits aged in casks, folk will ofter have vastly different opinions of the various sub genres. • For instance, bourbon vs scotch. Then peated vs unpeated. And, as is the case with one, even Ardbeg vs Laphroaig. Both distilleries make heavily peated scotch whisky but they have quite clear differences in style. • The Ardbeg 10, for me, is the real taste of Islay. It's peat without the ash. It's sweetness without medicinal flavours.
