County Lines • Do you know the signs? • • County lines is a term used to describe gangs transporting drugs from bigger cities into smaller towns. Children and vulnerable adults are being exploited by these gangs and this must stop. Would you know the signs? • Warwickshire Police launched its Protect initiative which aims to tackle and disrupt county lines crime and other forms of serious organised crime. • • PC 1942, a Warwickshire Officer based in the Nunreaton Safer Neighbourhoods Team, has been working hard to raise awareness of this and has created this film as well as 2 music videos to highlight these issues. This film and the two music videos were written and made by the officer in his own time. The raps on the two music videos are performed by 16-year-old Anti-Hate, who has Autism and ADHD. • County Lines Track One: • Video • County Lines Track Two: • Video • • Warwickshire Police launched the campaign Protect which seeks to tackle serious and organised crime (SOC) and the harm it causes in our communities. • The broad-ranging campaign comprises four key areas of activity: • · Pursue - prosecuting and disrupting those involved in SOC • · Prevent - stopping individuals from becoming involved in SOC • · Protect - increased levels of protection against SOC • · Prepare - reducing the impact of SOC where it occurs. • Working closely with communities and partner agencies, Protect will ensure we are in the best possible position to pursue, prevent, protect and prepare against organised crime groups. • Police and others, including the National Crime Agency (NCA) UK, want to empower and engage with communities as they will play an integral part of the solution in tackling SOC. • Officers will be targeting problems specific to your local community, be that relating to drugs, burglary, modern day slavery, economic crime or fraud. • Using innovative ways of working Police and others pursue those involved to disrupt and dismantle their criminality, making sure they are not just put before the courts but also stripped of their ill-gotten gains. • Police and others are committed to protecting the most vulnerable people in our communities from harm and know that tackling serious and organised crime will play a big part in this. • Awareness project to highlight Drug Dealers/Organised Crime Groups/Other Criminals exploiting coercing children young people to carry drugs across counties. Please look for the signs. • Signs to look out for: • A young person’s involvement in county lines often leaves signs, below are some of the indicators of county lines involvement and exploitation: • • Has a child or young person gone missing from home or school? • • Have they acquired money, clothes or mobile phones they can’t account for? • • Are they meeting unfamiliar adults? • • Are they in excessive receipt of texts or phone calls? • • Are they in relationships with controlling, older individuals or gang association? • • Do you have suspicion of self-harm, physical assault or unexplained injuries? • • Has there been a significant decline in school performance and significant changes in emotional well-being? • Gangs may also target women who tend to be drug users or have engaged in a relationship with a gang member. They can become victims of sexual and domestic violence and can also be coerced into delivery drugs or money for the gang. • Vulnerable adults who are in financial difficulties or have mental health problems are usually the most likely victim of cuckooing. • Call Police via 101 in a non-emergency, or 999 in an emergency. • Other information is available: • https://www.warwickshire.police.uk/pr... • https://crimestoppers-uk.org/campaign... • https://www.nationalcrimeagency.gov.uk/ • https://www.childline.org.uk/
