This variety of Synodontis is endemic to Lake Tanganyika in Africa, and is considered a dwarf or pygmy species in its genus. This little catfish is very hardy and active and mixes well with both community and more aggressive type fishes eg: African Cichlids. The Pygmy Leopard Catfish (common name) should be kept in groups of no less then three individuals as these fish are very interactive with each other.
