This is the first in a series of four videos showing how to build a PiDP-11 kit. The PiDP-11 emulates the experience of running a 1970s mini-computer. In the first video we'll talk about the original PDP-11/70 this kit emulates. We'll also start the preparation work for the project. • Part 2 will cover soldering the small passive component and LEDs. • Part 3 will cover the switches and active components. • Part 4 finishes the assembly and tests it all out. • We reference a number of web pages in this video: • Getting the kit: • https://obsolescence.wixsite.com/obso... • Kit building instructions: • https://obsolescence.wixsite.com/obso... • The manual: • https://www3.ispnet.net/pidp11/PiDP-1... • Download for Raspian: • https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads... • Download for the PiDP-11 software: • https://www3.ispnet.net/pidp11/pidp11... • Download for the guest OSes: • https://www3.ispnet.net/pidp11/system... • Check out our other social media accounts: • Instagram feed at   / beigeovision   • Facebook feed at   / beigeovision   • Acknowledgements: • This video was made in association with The National Museum of Computing (www.tnmoc.org).
