Full Playlist:    • First Aid   • - • - • Watch more First Aid videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/292616-... • Although nosebleeds can look gory, they can usually be stopped in about five minutes if you know how. • Warning • If your nose is still bleeding after 30 minutes of applying consistent pressure, seek medical attention immediately. • Step 1: Pinch • With your thumb and index finger, firmly pinch the entire soft part of your nose just above the nostril. • Step 2: Tilt • Sit or stand, and lean your head slightly forward, and breathe through your mouth. • Tip • Always keep your head above your heart when you have a nosebleed –never lie down. • Step 3: Hold • Hold this position for 5 minutes. If bleeding persists, continue holding this position for an additional 10 minutes. • Step 4: After stopping • Once the bleeding has stopped, moisten a clean tissue and wipe away any dried blood from below your nose. Then, wrap ice in a towel and apply it to your nose and cheeks until the bleed has completely stopped. • Tip • If you get frequent nosebleeds, try running a humidifier in your bedroom at night. • Step 5: Avoid triggering a recurrence • Refrain from picking or blowing your nose for a day or two after a nosebleed, or you could trigger the bleeding again. • Did You Know? • Nosebleeds are more common in the winter months, when people are more exposed to dry, warm air from heaters.
