Soaping a floor is a credible long-term solution and can be described as keeping the wood to as close to a carpet as possible. In very low wear rooms clean just by vacuuming. In high wear areas regular cleaning with a weaker soap solution is required to maintain the appearance. • Faxe Universal Lye is a mildly caustic product but with a strong whitening effect. It gives the crispest white colour impact on the floor. • During stage 1 you will first apply to the floor an application of Faxe Universal Lye. This is brushed on as a even and thin coat, which soaks in to the wood. The wood needs to dry for at least 2 hours. In stage 2 you apply Faxe white soap in a 50/50 dilution with water and buff-in the bulk of the protective oil resins as well as more white pigments into the surface. Stage 3 is a repetition of the soaping process, but with a weaker dilution 25/75. Subsequent cleaning is made using a solution of Natural Soap, White 1/40. The white pigments in the soap will further build the whiteness of the floor at the same time as the soap cleans. Regular cleaning with soap should be enough to maintain the floor. • DC020 is the recommended system for Douglas Fir. An alternative is using Woca Wood Lye in DC004 or DC010. Do not used Softwood Lye on Douglas Fir.
