With Sensys and Intermat hinges made by Hettich, you have perfect solutions for all kind of standard and special applications. • The inset or inlay application is a special kind of furniture construction, e.g. chosen as a design option using the cabinet side, top and bottom panels to create a frame around the door. • If you plan to build furniture with inset doors, then you will probably face technical aspects such as finding the perfect setup of the reveal and choosing the correct hinge and mounting plate distance. • In this video, Hettich Product Manager Andreas Hippauf explains the options of the Hettich hinge ranges. • There are special hinges in the assortment allowing to easily create an inset application. These hinges differ in the hinge arm cranking and position the door inside the cabinet instead of in an overlay position. The hinge arm cranking is measured in the so-called base B . This figure is given in the hinge catalogue. • Select the correct mounting plate distance D to effect the reveal between the side panel and the inset door. A thicker mounting plate makes the door move from the side panel it is assembled to. Therefore, a bigger distance creates a larger reveal, a smaller distance creates a smaller reveal. • You may also influence the reveal by setting the cup distance C : this figure measures the distance between the edge of the door and the outer edge of the hinge cup hole and must be regarded when the door drilling is set. • Especially when designing furniture with inset doors, remember to adapt the door size when changing the reveal as will be clearly visible all around the door. • Sounds difficult? There is a simple calculation available in the catalogue. • Mounting plate distance D = Cup distance C + Base B + reveal F.
