This is a demo of the servicing and repair an antique 1924 Westinghouse 321347 Antique Fan that was running too slow. The main issues identified was a bad oilier assembly that was applying too much pressure to the armature; and the resulting inadequate lubrication. As an additional result, the fan was drawing additional current trying to maintain the RPMs. A secondary contributing factor (not covered in this video) was a loose fan blade screw that was allowing the fan blade to slow down, causing additional toque on the armature shaft. The loose blade was not recorded in the video because it can not be ascertained if it was loosen from shipping which did loosen the fan blade cage considerably. • Upon diagnosis, the following issues were identified and fixed: • Tested the speed control, head wires, stator, and line cord resistances • Inspected and cleaned the motor stator and armature • Added grease to the gearbox • Replaced the wick and readjusted the spring • Basic cleaning of fan blade and motor housing • Tightening of the fan of the fan cage • The purpose of this video is to demonstrate the troubleshooting steps used, and to educate others interested in learning diagnostic and servicing procedure. • Thanks for watching!
