This video is about the full-day adventure and unexpected things happened to us at the most sacred mountain in Cambodia, Phnom Kulen (Khmer: ភ្នំគូលែន) • About Siem Reap, Cambodia : • Siem Reap, a resort town in northwestern Cambodia, is the gateway to the ruins of Angkor, the seat of the Khmer kingdom from the 9th–15th centuries. Angkor’s vast complex of intricate stone buildings includes preserved Angkor Wat, the main temple, which is pictured on Cambodia’s flag. Giant, mysterious faces are carved into the Bayon Temple at Angkor Thom. • (SOURCE : GOOGLE.COM/DESTINATION) • About Kullen Mountain : • Phnom Kulen has major symbolic importance for Cambodia as the birthplace of the ancient Khmer Empire, There is a sanctuary in the area, Phnom Kulen National Park, straddling the districts of Svay Leu and Va Rin. Its purpose is recreational and scientific in order to preserve the natural scenic features of Phnom Kulen mountain, like some famous waterfalls. Phnom Kulen is considered a holy mountain in Cambodia, of special religious significance to Hindus and Buddhists who come to the mountain in pilgrimage. The park is located about 48 km to the north of the provincial town of Siem Reap. • The attraction we visited in Kulen mountain includes: • 1. Kulen Waterfalls • 2. Preah Ang Thom • This is the main temple site at Kulen Mountain, Preah Ang Thom houses a large statue of Buddha. It was built in the 16th century and is eight metres high. Preah Ang Thom is the sacred and worshipping god for Kulen Mountain. • 3. Srah Damrei • Srah Damrei, or Elephant Pond, is an area filled with stone-carved animals. This ancient Khmer sculpture is also accompanied by a couple of lions and remnants of some other animals.
