Especially for Diwali we use to make this sweet. • Ingredients for Sugiyan / Sushiyam • Channa Dal – 50 gm • Jaggery – 100 gm • Cardamom – 1 tspn • Coconut – 50 gm • All Purpose flour – 100 gm • Turmeric Powder – 1 tspn • Salt to taste • Oil to deep fry • Preparation • Firs soak the chana dal for approximately for 2 hours and cook in pressure cooker for 4 whistles and after the pressure cooker get cooled. Mash the cooked chanadal and add jaggery,Cardamom and Coconut and keep in sim flame for few minutes till the jaggery got melted and mixed with mashed chana dal and coconut to make the poornam for Sugiyan. • Prepare the batter with all-purpose flour to dosa batter consistency. If you have dosa batter at home you can use instead of all-purpose flour batter. While preparing the batter add turmeric powder and little salt. • Make the stuff (poornam) into balls and keep ready. Keep the tawa and add oil and let the get heated up. Keep the flame in high till the oil get heated up after that while deep fry you can reduce that to medium flame. • Dip the balls of poornam in the batter and deep fry.
