DIY How Fix Broken Toilet or Closet Flange Toilet Wobbles

The toilet in my RV became loose on one side. Basically the ABS (plastic) flange that goes on the floor beneath the toilet has some grooves that a bolt slides into to help hold the toilet down firmly to the floor. Unfortunately the plastic in one portion broke and was no longer holding anything down. • I talked to the parts guys at a local RV shop, did some internet searching, and came up with a plan to get my toilet back in service and firmly secured to the floor. I glued the plastic parts and put them back into place, but instead of relying on the glued-repair to hold, I went to the hardware store and got a 5/16 hangar bolt....which has wood screw threads on one end and machine threads on the other. Drilled a hole in the appropriate place and installed the hangar bolt into the wood flooring. This left a 5/16 stud sticking up that looks original when I'm done. • I didn't explain it in much detail in the video, but I considered cutting the flange out. The problem was that there were multiple 45 degree connections just below the floor and really anywhere I cut would have been right into a 45 piece. There was no way I could cut and have a short section of pipe to glue new connections on. Since the plumbing is in good shape, I just left it and fixed the hold down problem as shown. • Hope this helps someone • P.S. The sledge hammer and wedges were there for the glue'ing part. The were just weights that I put onto the plastic as the glue was curing. • #motorhome #trailer #fifthwheel #plumbing #rv
