The first song that I heard of Bayaan was 'Farda'. I strongly believe that a band's soul lies in its music and the coordination among its members that is being created by that music. However, for me, Bayaan's soul has always been Asfar. It's not Asfar's voice that attracts me most, but it is his approach towards music that makes me listen to his music again and again. I have a deep connection with Bayaan, jise mein Bayaan nahi kar sakta (which I cannot even describe). Sometimes I feel I can write a book on this band. Half of the book would be about the feelings and emotions that 'Bayaan' generates in its songs. Khair! I'll talk more about 'Bayaan' some other day. • Back to Mehram! Mehram is a song that takes you on a journey. It says a lot, and it says nothing at the same time. It seeks your attention, but then you don't need to be attentive. Mehram is a melody. Mehram is painful. Mehram is slow. Mehram finds a place in your soul. You start connecting with it as it moves on at its own unique pace. Without Arooj's intervention/contribution, it would not have become a special song. When Asfar and Arooj perform together in the last part, the song turns out into a gem.
