Memories rekindled as Buchanan team of 1977-78 is honored • 'Amazing' time • Jack WalkdenTribune Correspondent • 2-14-2018 • https://www.southbendtribune.com/stor... • Where are they now? • • Gerald Busby: Busby attended Michigan State for part of a season and eventually was a three-year standout at Ferris State, scoring more than 1,000 points. He was a GLIAC All-Defensive Team selection twice and was GLIAC Player of the Year in 1983. Busby earned a degree in kinesiology and is semi-retired after teaching in the Lansing school district for more than 20 years. • • Ronnie Williams: Williams attended Mott Community College and Ferris State before completing a degree in business administration at Phoenix University. He works for Hennites Automotive, an auto parts supplier in Auburn Hills, Mich. • • Mo Kyles: Kyles played basketball and baseball at Western Michigan for two years and then basketball at Albion College. He earned degrees in sociology anthropology. He has worked for 34 years for FS Carbon, which became Carbon and is now New Carbon. He was plant manager and is now shipping and receiving manager. • • Greg Frazier: Frazier has been a pastor at Faith Apostolic Temple in South Bend for the past 30 years. • • Joe Watts: Watts has been employed at Fed Ex the past 15 years after previously owning a limo company. • • Dave Price: Price played baseball at Valparaiso University and now works for RPS Imaging, his father, Reece’s company. It sells and services X-ray equipment and is Samsung’s exclusive distributor. • • David Karpinski: Karpinski was an All-State baseball standout at Buchanan and played one year at Miami of Ohio. He currently manages condominiums in Florida. • • Todd Cornwell: Cornwell earned a degree in marketing at Grand Valley. After working with father, Don, for 10 years at Lowery’s Meat Market, Cornwell has been in the insurance business for the past 22 years. • • Brad Pointer: Pointer earned a business degree at Western Michigan and ran a commercial lighting business. But he went back to school in 2000, graduated from Cincinnati Bible Seminary and has been a corporate chaplain since 2004 in Indianapolis. • • Jeff Butler: Butler earned education and business degrees from Western Michigan and has been teaching U.S. History in the Mattawan school district since 1986. • • Al Ward: Ward earned a mechanical engineering degree at Michigan State and is now Vice President of Auto Liv, a company that sells air bags, seat belts and steering wheels. He lives in Ogden, Utah. • • Coach Mike Rouse: Rouse coached four more years at Buchanan after 1978 and continued to teach at the school until 2002. He coached at St. Mary’s College two seasons (1982-84).
