In Burundi (World's Poorest Country) I was lucky not to be eaten alive by the most feared crocodile in all of africa. The big and massive croc named Gustav who killed hundreds of africans in burundi. • Burundi, a small landlocked country in East Africa (Capital is Bujumbura), is consistently ranked as the world's poorest country. With a population of around 12 million, the country faces numerous socio-economic challenges, including widespread poverty, political instability, limited natural resources, and a lack of infrastructure. Over 70% of its population lives below the poverty line, and the country has one of the lowest GDPs per capita globally. Agriculture, particularly subsistence farming, is the backbone of its economy, but the land is overused and degraded, leading to low yields. Burundi also struggles with malnutrition, poor healthcare, and inadequate access to education. • Years of civil war and ethnic conflict have left the country in a fragile state, and political tensions continue to destabilize development efforts. Corruption, weak governance in Bujumbura, and a lack of foreign investment also contribute to its economic difficulties. Efforts by international organizations to provide humanitarian aid and development assistance face obstacles due to these systemic problems. • One lesser-known yet alarming issue in Burundi involves a surge in dangerous crocodile attacks, particularly around its lakes, such as Lake Tanganyika. The country’s proximity to large freshwater bodies makes it a hotspot for these reptiles, and many communities depend on fishing and water-related activities, putting them at risk. • Crocodiles in these lakes in especially Burundi but also in many lakes in Africa is full of danger and have been responsible for numerous fatal attacks on locals. Especially Gustav the monster killer crocodile. As people go fishing, fetch water, or wash clothes by the lake, they become easy prey for these large feared predators. The rising incidents are partly due to the increasing human population around these water bodies, leading to more frequent human-crocodile interactions. Moreover, habitat destruction and food scarcity may be pushing crocodiles closer to human settlements in search of food. • Efforts to mitigate these croc attacks have been minimal in Burundi (and Africa) in general , given the country’s lack of resources and focus on other urgent priorities. Education on safety measures near crocodile-inhabited waters and potential relocation of crocodiles could help, but implementation remains a challenge in the world’s poorest country already grappling with so many difficulties. • So Jumping in a lake full of feared Crocodiles in Burundi was not the smartest thing I did in Burundi. • FIND ME HERE π • βΊ INSTAGRAM: • / adventure_jones_ • βΊ TIK TOK: https://www.tiktok.com/@adventure.jon... • βΊ FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?... • βΊ YOUTUBE : / @adventure-jones • • Support My Travels :π€ ππͺπ» • Unfortunately it isn’t for free to document and travel this kind of often dangerous ways.
