The city of Sarpsborg is located in the southeast of Norway on the banks of the largest river - Glomma. The city was founded in 1016 and not so long ago celebrated its 1000th birthday on a grand scale and with general fun! • The main enterprise of the city is the chemical plants of the Borregaard company. The company's business is based on a biorefinery that manufactures products based on various wood components. • And it is precisely up to the Borregaard factories that the river is navigable so that residents of houses overlooking the Glomma river can watch from their windows how large ships and tugboats ply the river every day. • We started our walk from the Borgarsyssel Museum where you can see the history of the county of Østfold from the Middle Ages to the present day. And also for the anniversary of the city, a Kraka observation tower was built here, which can be climbed both on foot and by elevator. It offers excellent views of the city, the river, and the factory. • Then we walked to the very center and started from the pedestrian street where cafes, shops, and interesting monuments are comfortably located. • Around the central cathedral of Sarpsborg, there is a wonderful garden with many flowers and benches. And across the road is the central park Kulåsparken where there is a large stage on which city residents gather for concerts. As well as a gazebo, where Christmas motifs are performed at Christmas. • Behind the park is the Borregaard estate. It was in his honor that the chemical plants were named. An interesting fact is that once this estate was the permanent residence of the Norwegian kings. • Next, we will walk along Glengshølen Bay, where a wooden promenade over the water was opened for the 1000th anniversary of the city. Its length is a little more than a kilometer and it leads to the beach and the beginning of hiking and walking trails through the forest. • Lake Tunevann warms up perfectly in summer and is a favorite place for a beach holiday for residents of the city. In 2022, a bath on the water was built here. • The E6 highway passes through the city and there are two more popular places near it at the entrance to the city. • The Inspiria Science Center houses about 70 interactive exhibitions on science and the world order. His visit will be interesting for both adults and children. • Superland Active Recreation Center. Here, anyone will find entertainment to their liking from climbing walls to mini-golf, bowling, or an aqua park located on more than 2000 square meters. • And on the other side of the city, near road number 22, there is the Hafslund hovedgård estate with an alley of centuries-old trees, ponds, and a cozy gazebo. We love to walk here and believe me, it is beautiful here at any time of the year. • We finish our walk around the city of Sarpsborg at the Greåker Fort. Which was built in 1902 - 1903 to protect the city. And now people walk along it, and this is a popular place to watch sunsets over the river and the city. • We hope you enjoy traveling with us, feel free to ask your questions and write your wishes in the comments, we are always pleased to read them! ;) • About Us: • We are traveling across Norway with a caravan Hymer Eriba Troll 530 Rockabilly.
