Over the Rainbow is a song performed by the late Hawaiian singer, Israel Kamakawiwoʻole, also known as Bruddah Iz, or Iz. • Iz's version was originally released as a medley from the 1990 album Ka ʻAnoʻi, and later in 1993 also as a medley titled Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World . The 1993 album Facing Future to date is the best-selling album of all time by a Hawaiian artist. • In 2001, many adult stations played simply the Over The Rainbow portion of the song as a single and quickly became very popular across the United States. This version was featured on Iz's album Alone in Iz World. In '01, the album debuted at #1 on Billboard's World Chart and #135 on Billboard's Top 200, #13 on the Top Independent Albums Chart, and #15 on the Top Internet Album Sales charts. • Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World as a medley later reached #12 on Billboard's Hot Digital Tracks chart the week of January 31, 2004.
