OLYMPUS CLASS CORVETTE • One of the older ships in service at the time of the Earth-Minbari war, the Earth Alliance's Olympus class Corvette was the primary convoy escort ships used by the Earth Alliance Navy. • Peak of the Olympus' service was back during the Dilgar war, when fleets' of Olympus class ships escorted by the Jump capable Heavy Cruisers, worked together to defend Earth from the threat of the Dilgar Empire. • With the war problems began to surface. The alliance required an immense supply train into the League territory, and keeping enough ammunition available for the many Olympus hulls in the fleet became a difficult challenge. • A special laser variant was produced for the last years of the war, based on prototypes then undergoing tests, but this was eventually retired. • Another less popular version built after the invasions utilised Dilgar bolter technology, which later evolved into pulse cannons, but even this was eventually scrapped in favour of the much better delta model still in service today. • At a length of some 444 meters, easy to maintain and cheep to construct, thousands of these small escort vessels were built to protect large, defenseless Earth ships. • The Olympus operate with a small crew of 87 officers and was considered by many an extremely uncomfortable vessel. The ship was powered by 4 fusion reactors and require maintenance every 8 months. • The ships main armament consisted of: • 4 Twin-Linked Medium Pulse Cannons, 2 Long Range Rail-Guns and 2 Standart Missile Racks. • The ships defense consisted of: • 2 mark 1 Interceptors, 1.8 meter armored hull and 4 mark 1 Defense Grid Energy Projectors. • The ship was fitted with 1 Standard Shuttle. Some variants were also fitted with Aurora Starfuries, but that wasn't common due to the size of the hangar. • These ships saw service during the Earth-Minbari War, but as with other Earth warships they were hopelessly outclassed by the Minbari ships and were easily destroyed. Despite this, large numbers of Olympus class corvettes survived the war to see action during the final Battle of the Line. • After the Earth-Minbari War several Olympus class corvettes were a part of the fleet that defended Earth during the Drakh attack of 2266.
