Nope, this compact SUV has some serious claws, because it could be one of the best driving – if not the best to drive – small SUVs on the market. • The Puma arrived in Australia late in 2020, with Ford’s local arm renewing its push to be seen as more than just the Ranger and Mustang brand. • And it launched the Puma crossover into one of the busiest segments of the new car market, where more than 20 light SUV and small SUV models vie for a slice of the sales pie. • As buyers move away from hatchbacks like the Focus and into SUVs like the Puma – or step up to something larger, like the new Escape – there is a chance for brands to establish themselves as dominant in one way or another in the segments they play in.
