In this day and age, anyone with a controller and twitchy trigger finger can be a sniper if they so desire. Then there are the characters in the games themselves who are light-years ahead of the curve. So let's put our eyes to the scope and zoom in on our top five snipers in gaming. • 5. Deadshot - Batman: Arkham City • Favouring the catch-me-if-you-can approach over shooting now and thinking later, Deadshot is to sniping what Batman is to sleuthing. The Dark Knight always catches him in the end, but not before he's smooshed at least a dozen craniums with his specialised bullets. • 4. 'The Sniper' - Spy Party • Not a lot is known about the sniper from Spy Party other than he's a damn good shot and that he hates banana bread. There's something ever-so sinister and creepy in not knowing a thing about the guy between you and the rifle. But we kinda like it that way. • 3. Sniper Wolf - Metal Gear Solid • As beautiful as the morning sun but as deadly as a sprig of hemlock, Sniper Wolf is the very definition of the beautiful assassin. She can lie in wait for weeks on end and she never misses her target. All this and an absolutely amazing pair of... eyes... For a clean kill, of course. • • 2. Mick Mundy (aka 'The Sniper') - Team Fortress 2 • On the surface, TF2's Mick Mundy mightn't seem like the most competent marksman. But put him to the test and you'll be laughing out of a brand new hole. Politeness, efficiency and a plan to kill everyone he meets are all in a day's work for the marvellous Mr Mundy. G'day! • 1. The End - Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater • Sniper Wolf may be an MGS fan favourite, but she wouldn't even be a puppy if it weren't for the legendary sniper himself. Not only did The End pioneer every modern sniping technique known to man, but he also possessed some insane superhuman abilities.
