Currently, there's no other extended-range electric vehicle in the market, prompting Mazda to label it simply as a plug-in hybrid. A bit of a letdown that it only reaches an 85 km range in electric mode. Just an additional 5 km would have placed it in the pure electric category, boosting subsidies from 5 to 7,000 euros.
