And there's a high-tech twist: As you strap into your seat, you'll pick the song you want to hear during your white-knuckle journey on this coaster. • Adrenaline pumping and music thumping, you'll climb 17 stories high (that’s 167 feet) straight toward the sky at a 90-degree angle. It’s this 90-degree angle climb up that often scares the faint hearted away, but don’t let that be you. After that first fear inducing drop, you'll tear through the track, reaching a max speed of 65 mph. Once you're back safe on solid ground, you can view your adventure as a photo or as a music video that you purchase to take home. That way you can relive this adventure again and again. • Now for the particulars: • Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit is a steel roller coaster at Universal Studios Florida. • • RRR officially opened on August 19, 2009 • • It is located near the front of the park in a section called Production Central • • It has a height of 167 feet • • a length of 3,800 feet • • and a top speed of 65 miles per hour • • it has zero inversions, so you don’t actually go upside down on this coaster • • ride duration is about 1:40 • • at full capacity it can load 1,850 riders per hour • • it has 7 trains with 2 cars. Riders are arranged 2 across in 3 rows for a total of 12 riders per train. • • Universal Express pass and single rider lines are available for RRR • • The minimum height requirement to ride is 51 inches but there is a child swap area for this ride • • Also, if you are 6’7” tall or taller, you are too tall to ride RRR • • The restraint used on RRR is a lap bar not an over the shoulder restraint • • If you are in Wheelchair you will need to transfer from the wheelchair into the ride vehicle. Also, all Prosthetic Limbs must be removed before riding • • Please note Universal say that if your waistline is 40” or greater, there is a chance you may not fit. Best thing to do if you’re worry you may not fit is to try the test seats provided at the entrance of the attraction. • • And for our last “must know” before you go….This attraction will require you to pass through a metal detector as loose articles are strictly prohibited. Cell phones, cameras, keys, and the like are not allowed. There are small lockers at not cost for you near the start of the queue. However, there is a small fee for the LARGE lockers should you need one. • Now, on to the RIDE EXPERIENCE: • The Queue • Guests first enter into one of three queues; either the stand by queue, the express queue, or the single rider queue. Each of these will have the afore mentioned metal detectors. In each of the queue lines, there are several large screen displays that explain how to pick a song to play during the ride and important safety instructions. In the video, characters called Video DJ's are used as demonstrators to provide a visual explanation. Other than that, the RRR queue is rather boring and weakly themed…rather boring in fact. • The Ride • Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit features on-ride music, LED lighting, and on-ride photos and videos captured from cameras mounted in each passenger row. The roller coaster operates with seven stadium-style seating X-Car trains. So it’s almost like every row is front row seating, almost. • One of the eye-catching, heart stopping features about RRR is the climb up, which is set to 90 degrees. Just seeing this causes many to just turn and go find something a little more tame. • The loading station for the roller coaster is a unique design, in which trains enter and slow down but do not stop. There is a moving sidewalk on both sides that moves at the same speed as the train allowing riders to board. Riders have approximately 30 seconds to take their seat, lower the lap-bar, and make their song choice. After the restraints are checked, the train immediately begins to climb the 17 story, 167-foot vertical chain lift, and the song selected by the rider begins to play. The on-ride video recorder also begins recording. • RIP RIDE ROCKET SECRET SONG LIST: • http://orlandopassholder.com/universa...
