Resurfacing Railway Track In The Rain and Snow

Track maintenance happens in one of two ways: one, when you derail and the track falls apart, and two, when you plan to improve an area that needs some attention. • It is this later reason that I'm out on the track today. Unfortunately, the weather decided to be uncooperative. Despite it raining and mixing with occasional snow, I decided to tackle a spot near the end of the track by the sugar house, where we load and unload wood pellets. You could say that it needed a little pick me up. This is all done with hand tools, except for ballast regulating. Shoveling, jacking and tamping, all done by hand as usual. • Want to join us on our Discord Server?
